UKGovscan is built to use as little tracking as possible. There is no cookie banner on this site because none is needed: we set no advertising or third-party tracking cookies at all.

1. Overview
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, PECR) requires consent for cookies — except those strictly necessary for a service you have asked for. Everything we set falls in that strictly-necessary category, which is why you don’t see a consent banner here.
2. What we set

Exact cookie names and lifetimes are set by WorkOS and may change if they update their SDK; the descriptions above reflect their current defaults.
3. Analytics without cookies
To understand which pages are useful we run Umami, a privacy-friendly analytics tool that we host ourselves on our own servers in the EU. It sets no cookies, stores no identifiers on your device, and cannot track you across other websites. Because it neither stores nor reads anything on your device, it falls outside PECR’s consent requirement.
4. What we don’t use
- No advertising or ad-measurement cookies.
- No third-party analytics (Google Analytics or similar).
- No embedded social-media widgets or their trackers.
- No device fingerprinting.
- We never sell or share browsing data.
Note: some pages load web fonts (Google Fonts) and, on map pages, map tiles (CARTO / OpenStreetMap) directly from those providers. These don’t set cookies, but the providers do receive your IP address when their content loads — this is explained in our Privacy Policy.
5. Managing cookies
You can clear or block cookies and local storage in your browser settings at any time. Blocking the session cookie will sign you out and prevent account features from working; nothing else on the site depends on cookies. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle personal data more broadly.
