About UKGovscan

UKGovscan is an independent database of the UK public record, built to make government, political and corporate information easier to find, connect and understand.

Public information in the UK is extensive, but it is scattered across hundreds of datasets, registers and publishing bodies. Procurement records sit in one place, political donations in another, company filings somewhere else again. UKGovscan brings these records together into a single searchable database.

The aim is simple: to make it easier to follow the relationships between public money, organisations and people.

What UKGovscan covers

UKGovscan collects records published by official sources including Contracts Finder, Find a Tender, Companies House, the Electoral Commission, Parliament, the Charity Commission, central government departments and local authorities.

Bringing the public record together

The value of UKGovscan is not simply in collecting public data, but in making different parts of the public record usable together.

A company profile can bring together its public contracts, directors, political donations and other relevant records. An MP’s declared interests can be viewed alongside information about the organisations concerned. Local authority spending can be explored together with the suppliers receiving those payments.

UKGovscan does not alter the underlying figures. Records are presented on the basis of information published by their original sources, and individual records link back to those sources wherever possible.

This makes it possible to move from a single name, organisation or transaction to the wider public record surrounding it without having to search multiple government websites and registers separately.

Who UKGovscan is for

UKGovscan is designed for anyone who needs to understand the organisations, people and money appearing in the UK public record.

That includes journalists, researchers, public affairs professionals, businesses, investors, charities, campaigners and members of the public.

Searching the database is free.

Subscribers can follow organisations and people, receive alerts when new information appears, and ask questions of the database in plain English. Subscription options are available on the pricing page.

Independence

UKGovscan is published by Elenchos Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales.

UKGovscan is funded entirely by subscriptions. It accepts no funding from government, political parties or organisations appearing in the database, and has no affiliation with the UK Government or Parliament.

The presence of a person, organisation, payment, contract, donation, interest or other record on UKGovscan does not in itself imply wrongdoing. UKGovscan brings together information from the public record; users should consider each record in its proper context and refer to the original source where appropriate.
