Treatment of Scrap Metal

PKC is seeking a contractor for the treatment of scrap metal derived from householders and businesses at all 9 HWRCs. Scrap metal is an income generating commodity. PKC Waste Services strives to maximise best value across all waste streams, and income generating commodities such as scrap metal helps to relieve budget pressures.

It is proposed that the DPS option is pursued. The use of the DPS recognises that suppliers have already carried out the work to be pre-qualified and is less resource intensive but still allows Local Authorities to have control over specifications within the tender. The use of a DPS also honours the Councils preferred procurement hierarchy.
