Perth & Kinross Council are in a position to allocate additional funding to expand counselling services in schools to include group work. This additional service would not reduce the current delivery of 1:1 counselling in schools but would allow for an additional flexible approach where the practitioner would work with a select small group of children and young people. The aim would be to increase accessibility by providing a less intensive option to receive support.Group sessions should allow young people to normalise their feelings and experiences. It should be an opportunity to learn about themselves, their thinking patterns and review coping strategies that support their resilience and social relations.
