The requirement is to procure a service that provides support to vulnerable women in the justice system with nutrition and wellbeing and prevent them falling into food poverty.
The Women’s Justice Service in Edinburgh provides a range of support to women in the justice system tailored to meet their needs. This may include support with mental health, substance use, physical health and wellbeing.
The service shall work with the Women’s Justice Team Leader and her team to support women to increase their awareness of a healthy balanced diet, to access affordable food, and to gain confidence in food preparation and cooking.
The service shall provide both 1:1 and group support to women at the Women’s Justice Centre. The requirement is needed as many women in the justice system lack the skills and confidence to take care of their health and nutrition, and to perform cooking tasks which has a detrimental impact on their health and wellbeing.
The service shall employ qualified nutritionists to deliver a flexible, specialist service and support the ‘ending poverty’ outcome as set out in the Council’s Business Plan Priorities.
