As telecommunication companies move to newer digital technology which can support both broadband and telephone services, the public switched telephone network (PSTN) will be switched off. Whilst the deadline for this being completed is 2025, all telecommunication companies are already engaged in the process of upgrading their networks and many, if not all, already offer digital telephony packages.
In order to comply with the digital technology, the Council require to purchase digital alarm units for installation in service users homes which will be carried out in a phased approach.
