Contract awarded by The National Decommissioning Centre (NDC) is a 38m GBP partnership between the Oil & Gas Technology Centre and the University of Aberdeen, funded as part of the Aberdeen City Region Deal. Combining industry expertise with academic excellence, the Centre aims to work in partnership with industry, other academic institutions and research organisations to become the global leader in R&D focused on reducing costs, extending field and asset life, and transforming the conventional approach to decommissioning. Core objectives of the NDC are to anchor the supply chain in the North East of Scotland long term and retain and attract world class talent to the University of Aberdeen.
The NDC requires a fast, finite element analysis (FEA) or reduced basis finite element analysis (RB-FEA) code which can be interfaced with its simulation suite to provide real-time or near real-time stress/strain analysis of structures within the simulation.
