In order to meet one of Dumfries and Galloway Council's priority to ‘Protect the Most Vulnerable People’, the service supports the second priority of Equally Safe (2018): Scotland's strategy for preventing and eradicating violence against women and girls.
The second priority: intervening early and effectively to prevent violence and maximising the safety and wellbeing of women, children and young people is achieved by the provision of Refuge and Outreach Support for women and children experiencing domestic abuse.
This support aims to achieve the following outcomes:
-Women and children are safe and can protect themselves from domestic abuse.
-Women are able to manage their own and their children’s health and wellbeing.
-Women and children are in good quality, settled accommodation, which meets their needs.
-Women have developed a support network within the community.
-Women are successfully managing any legal issues.
-Women are able to cope independently with money matters and personal administration.
-Women have quality time with friends and family.
-Women are able to take control of decisions affecting life and feel confident and positive.
-Women have the skills necessary for employment or education.
