The University is awarding contract for eight cameras to form part of a field-deployable stereoscopic particle image velocimetry (PIV) system. The cameras will be installed in a custom frame/housing that may be immersed in rivers, estuaries or ocean environments. The additional cameras (compared to the minimum of two for stereoscopic PIV) will be used to increase the measurement field of view to around 300×800mm while maintaining high spatial resolution of the measured velocity. We will be working with a relatively low intensity illumination source, and therefore need the high sensitivity typical of sCMOS imaging sensors. The cameras should support a global shutter with a frame rate of 50Hz and have a resolution of around 4-5 megapixels. The PIV system is of a custom design and will integrate with our existing software systems for image capture and processing. As such, we do not require any application specific support from the vendor
