Dumfries and Galloway Council wish to procure a new cycle/footbridge crossing the River Cree in Newton Stewart.
The main works will comprise of off-site fabrication, delivery, and installation of a 37.8m span painted steel vierendeel truss cycle/footbridge together with the construction of the substructure and approach ramps. Steel sheet pile cofferdams will be required for the construction of the main reinforced concrete abutments, sheet piles will also provide scour protection for the design life of the bridge. A new section of sealed path is to be constructed on the east side to join the base of the new east ramp to the existing sealed path to the north. Lighting and scour protection installation will also be required as part of the works.
