DN Colleges Group - Security

To provide security services to the DN Colleges Group across all campuses. Contract from 1st April 2021 - 31st March 2023 with option to extend for a further 2 years.

The following specifies the requirements for Security Officers (SO's) and Security Services provided on a contract basis to the Group.

Security Officers (SO's) a) The Group requires SO's at each site to cover the requirements of the specification. SO's are to be permanently assigned to the Group and each Location i.e. 'site-specific'. Once assigned and trained on site they should not be assigned to any other sites, except with the agreement of the Group. All staff will be required to work in a team with other staff as necessary. For 'emergency' (absence/sickness) cover only, the Group will accept other (non-site) staff from the Contractor, provided that they are fully trained in site specific details.

b) Before working on site as relief/cover only, SO's must complete a minimum of two shifts supervised prior to commencing any duty unaccompanied.

c) Before assignment of any SO's to the service, the Contractor will provide the College with written confirmation:

• Of satisfactory vetting (a minimum of the past 10 years) for all their SO's working on site
• Showing a copy of each SO's SIA License
• A DBS check at an enhanced level, dated within the last 12 months
• In addition to any licensing requirement specified in legislation: that all SO's have attended and passed a Skills for Security certificated (or other equivalent) Security Officers training programme before commencing employment on site. This generally will have been a minimum of 3 days duration. All individual certificates must be produced for inspection by the Group before attending site d) SO's will be required to familiarise themselves with all posts that they may be covering on the contract, within their first two weeks on site. During this 'training' period they must be supervised by another trained SO or Supervisor (provided by the Contractor), and tested by the Supervisor at the end of that training period.

e) The Group retains the right to 'test' SO's at any time on their knowledge of the site or any relevant policies, procedures and/or systems used by the Group. Any obvious discrepancies will be brought to the attention of the Contractor for action as required.

f) The Group retains the right to request removal of an SO from site. The Group may consider legal action in any case of negligence or alleged criminal offences.

g) The regulations contained within the European Working Time Directive must be adhered to when deploying staff and SO's should not in any case, work on site for more than 60 hours per week, or for more than 6 concurrent days.

h) All SO's must meet the Groups Security Officer Person Specification, as identified below, at all times.
