The University of Birmingham invites tenders for the supply and installation of two full octave spanning frequency combs stabilised to vibration insensitive optical cavities, to the University of Birmingham. These will be used to characterise an rf sensor requiring ultralow phase noise. Each unit should be portable and preferably capable of operating while being mobile.
Each unit should contain: i) A femtosecond fibre laser with an appropriate spectral broadening; ii) Stabilised the repetition rate and the CEO frequency or no CEO; iii) Compact and force insensitive, high finesse optical cavity providing subHz to 1Hz linewidth; and iv) and a suitable user software, PC and display for system control and data acquisition.
Overall budget for this item is up to £613,333.33 + VAT, delivery to and installation within the appointed laboratories at University of Birmingham, training, manuals and warranties over the length of the Hub grant.
