Active Travel Initatives

Looking to procure Sustrans to provide an Active Travel Engagement and Activation Officer to support engagement for behaviour change and new infrastructure as well as continuing Air Quality work in communities and schools. Also included are costs for wider support from Sustrans colleagues.

This will include:

• Increase modal shift to active modes amongst those engaged in community and school settings

• Meaningful engagement with a diverse audience on new active travel schemes

• Activation of new routes and infrastructure through in person engagement and awareness raising

• Integrate awareness raising around air quality from former Sussex Air project

• Provision of agile support for active travel projects

• Intensive and regular engagement with the three School Streets schools & the communities nearby, to enable behaviour change to support the infrastructure changes

• Additional engagement with those three schools and local communities, building on the basic air quality awareness sessions previously delivered. Regular sessions throughout the year

• Community engagement around the Peacehaven feasibility study and supporting the ongoing piece of work to make the area more walkable and cycleable

• Continuing some light touch engagement with refugees via Sanctuary Eastbourne to support active travel

• Light touch engagement around active travel and air quality with other interested schools and communities in and around both AQMAs (Lewes, Newhaven) and the Peacehaven area
