Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training - Broker Contract Arrangement - NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board

Following a long campaign led by Oliver McGowan's mother Paula McGowan OBE, Health Education England, the Department of Health and Social Care, NHS England and Skills for Care launched The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism e-learning.

Training Elements of the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training include but are not limited to: -

1. Tier 1 - is for people who require general awareness of the support autistic people or people with a learning disability may need. This is an online interactive session lasting for 60 minutes with a Trio of trainers one of which is a facilitator and the other two are people with lived experience - one of which is autistic and the other has learning disabilities.

2. Tier 2 - is for people who may need to provide care and support for autistic people or people with a learning disability.  This is 1 day 6-hour classroom face-to-face training split in the format of two sessions 3 hours with a facilitator/trainer and a person with a learning disability (half an hour). 3 hours is delivered with a facilitator and an autistic person. The facilitator/trainer can be a person who is autistic and/or has learning disabilities but the other two people are people who are autistic or have learning disabilities.
