NHS Health checks are one of the five mandated public health functions in the Health and Social Care Act 2012 whilst the CvD Prevention Programme targets population groups with unrecognised risk factors for CVD that are not being identified through the Health Check programme.
There are currently two separate contracts with the GP federations (with Derwentside GP Federation acting as lead) for NHS Health Checks and a CvD Prevention Programme which are due to end 31 March 2019. Public Health Senior Management Team has agreed to amalgamate the specifications into one contract for 2019/20 and require a single supplier negotiation with Derwentside GP federation to implement the new contract.
