River Slea and River Witham In-Channel Habitat Improvement Works April 2022.

Please note: This procurement has been re-launched from an earlier case DN588393 due to changes required in the specification and budget. The scope of the project has reduced to 4 projects with a new budget. Bidders are required to once again express interest in this project via the ProContract portal.

The Council requires tenders for the supply of goods and works in respect of in channel habitat creation and improvement works for the River Slea, Sleaford, and River Witham, Grantham. A specialist contractor is required to deliver habitat improvement and creation through bank softening and in channel works, including berm installation and the addition of gravel, along with delivering volunteering opportunities through the works.

The project is match funded by the European Structural Investment Fund under their European Regional Development Fund funding stream, and the SKDC is required to follow the grant funders route to market and procurement thresholds.

The contactor is required to carry out all 4 projects.

The aims and objectives of this contract are:

• To enhance ecological value through a series of 4 projects split by location, 2 along the River Slea in Sleaford and 2 along the River Witham, Grantham.

• Details of the project are provided in Document 2. Appendix H includes site specific information for each of the individual projects.

• Works include:

• Berm Creation

• Bank Softening

• Installation of gravels

• Tree Works

• Volunteer Engagement

Site visits are mandatory for this project and will not be supported by the Council. Bidders must make their own arrangements to conduct the site visit to satisfy itself on all elements of the projects, clarification questions on this procurement must be submitted via the portal.
