Burgess Hill Town Council, in conjunction with Mid Sussex District Council and the Lottery Fund, invites tenders for the construction of a Petanque Terrain at Marle Place Park in the hatched area on the attached plan. The construction should meet the following minimum standard:
⢠The terrain should be 22m by 18m
⢠Level the site
⢠Dig a pit 7 inches deep over the entire site
⢠Remove spoil or alternatively shape a grassed bank on one side for spectators using some of the spoil.
⢠Line the hole with a weed suppressing membrane.
⢠Install a surround using concrete kerbstones/sleepers 8 inches deep.
⢠Fill up to 6inches with type 2 fill
⢠Finish off the surface with a dusting of fine grit 3mm down to dust
⢠Construct a French drain by digging a trench around the perimeter 9 inches deep and 12 inches wide
⢠Fill trench with 10mm shingle
⢠160m of blue nylon rope.
⢠Two sturdy benches on a concrete foundation . The benches should be Lakeside Seats as supplied by Broxap https://www.broxap.com/lakeside.html
⢠Access for wheelchairs should be provided.
The following aspects of the quote will be discussed further with the successful tenderer.
Please provide separately prices for the provision and installation of
⢠The site would benefit from the installation of flood lights. Electricity was previously installed on the site but it is unclear whether this could be reconnected. Please provide a quote to install suitable flood lighting using existing poles if possible.
⢠Provision of a roofed shelter (no sides) for participants to place belongings and shelter during inclement weather. It is suggested that the shelter should have a concrete base and incorporate one of the benches. The approximate size should be 5m by 3m by 2.5m.
