Spine Core is a collection of national applications and services which act as a central integration point to facilitate the exchange of information between local and national IT systems. It supports the IT infrastructure for health and social care in England, joining together over 23,000 healthcare IT systems in 20,500 organisations. It holds 100TB of data and handles 10,000,000,000 messages a year.
