With support of the European Regional Development Fund, Cornwall Council have embarked on the development of the Centre for Space Technologies (CST) to be located at Cornwall Airport Newquay. The project is one element of the broader Spaceport Cornwall programme, establishing facilities, infrastructure and services to support satellite launch operations and the research and development of satellite and launch system technologies.
Once completed, the Centre for Space Technologies will include facilities to support a range of launch system and satellite related activities, including a space systems integration facility, space systems operations facility and outdoor integration and test area.
As the Centre for Space Technologies will be used to support launch related programmes, some of the activities will be regulated under the Space Industry Act 2018, and may require licensing under the Space Industry Regulations, to be passed into law in July 2021.
Cornwall Council are seeking qualified specialist consultant support to perform a safety case and siting assessment for the core activities to be performed within the Centre for Space Technologies at Spaceport Cornwall.
