ACTIVE GREENSPACE

Sandwell MBC would like to commission a provider to deliver an active greenspaces programme. The programme will be delivered in Sandwell's principle parks and key greenspaces.

The aim of this service will be to improve public health outcomes associated with accessing and using greenspaces, and to increase the physical activity levels of those who are classed as inactive (doing less than 30 minutes of activity per week). The services will target residents who are over the age of 18. The target population may be physically inactive, suffering with mental health issues and lack the confidence and knowledge to use greenspaces to improve their health and wellbeing. They may also feel socially isolated and have limited access to greenspace at home.

We will be looking for a provider to:

• Develop nature-based programmes to encourage residents to increase their levels of physical activity, enhance their connection to the natural outdoor environment and improve their mental wellbeing.
• This can include activities such as; outdoor exercise (tai chi, yoga, circuits, gentle exercise), wellbeing walks, cycling and led rides, sports activities (such as rounders, cricket, walking sports, tennis) and targeted activities for people who may be suffering from social isolation and poor mental health.
