The Council require an independent mediation service to assist in resolving conflicts between SCC tenants and residents and their neighbours. The issues may stem from a dispute between neighbours over issues such as parking, boundaries, gardens etc. or may relate to 'nuisance neighbour' complaints such as noise.
The focus must be on finding a long term resolution to the problem, enabling people to enjoy and continue living in their homes and reducing the need for their landlord to intervene. These cases will be referred by the Council Housing Service (CHS). CHS may refer cases which relate to issues not involving Council tenants and being dealt with by other Council departments, so long as the issue relates to a neighbour nuisance/dispute.
The contract period is 12 months with the option of a 12 month extension period.
