This is a provision to purchase a Subsonic Wind Tunnel solution for our Aeronautical Engineering course to support Teaching and Research activities. & to cater for our current and future needs especially for the new Aeronautical Engineering course due to start in 2019/2020.
Minimum requirements:
a. A Subsonic Wind Tunnel needs to operate in an area of 9.5m X 10m b. The tunnel must be open-circuit suction wind tunnel and designed to suit safe operation in educational environment c. The proposed tunnel must be capable of conducting various aerodynamics experiments d. Minimum Working section: 300 mm x 300 mm, and 600 mm long e. Variable and controlled Air velocity ranging from 0 to 35 m.s-1 f. Maximum Noise levels at full speed ideally to be in the range of: 80 dB(A) at operators ear level g. Operating electrical supply (three phase) to be: 380 VAC to 440 VAC 50 Hz/60 Hz (16 A) h. The construction materials used must comply with the latest European Union/UK safety directives i. For ease and safety of use the Wind tunnel controls should be mounted on a separate, free-standing instrument frame j. The full wind tunnel assembly must be mobile. Ideally on braked wheels k. The wind tunnel must be capable of demonstrating experiments such as a lift and drag balance with a set of three-dimensional models for experiments in aerodynamic drag along with other requirements set out in the tender document suite.
