The aim of the Demonstration of Energy Efficiency Potential (DEEP) project is to investigate taking a system-level approach to retrofit, considering the entire dwelling rather than the performance of individual measures. Typically defined as a 'whole house' approach, this appreciates the complex interactions between fabric, ventilation and the occupant.
This presents opportunities for:
â¢Retrofit measures to contribute more effectively than if they were applied individually
â¢Reducing the risk of unintended consequences by considering system-level impact
To evaluate the potential of whole house retrofit, BEIS requires evidence, through the DEEP project, to explore the limitations, risks and benefits. This evidence should be produced through a combination of measurement and modelling, and will be used to inform our future retrofit strategy.
