The proposal is to remove the existing windows to the ground and first floors of the South elevation of the building and to install new aluminium framed windows to replace those removed
The existing windows are past their life span and are a health and safety hazard and cause operational issues.
There are no restrictors to the opening lights which poses a risk to pupils, especially in the first-floor classrooms.
There are currently large gaps between the windows, doors and their frames due to alignment issues; this causes problems with access control and is a security concern. Classrooms are very cold in the winter as the heating in the building is very poor and the windows let heat out.
In the summer the classrooms overheat. The school use curtains and blinds to shut out the sun which makes the classrooms very dark as the electrical lighting is very poor.
Overall it is intended that the window replacement works will address the above issues whilst keeping the visual appearance of the building largely the same.
