West Midlands Fireâ¯andâ¯Rescueâ¯Authority (the Authority)â¯currently usesâ¯a range ofâ¯watercraftâ¯from different suppliers which are now due for replacement.â¯The current fleet ranges fromâ¯3.6mâ¯rotaryâ¯moulded hulls to 5mâ¯Inflatable Rescue Boats.â¯These are propelled byâ¯various outboardsâ¯suchâ¯as;â¯Mariner 30/40hp,â¯2 stroke, 4 stroke, andâ¯Evinrude ETEC 30hp.â¯â¯
The Authority is looking to consolidate this fleet providingâ¯aâ¯standardisedâ¯approach requiring twoâ¯boat sizes, one not less than 4m (X4)and one no more than 5â¯metresâ¯(X1) in length. These shall be powered by the mostâ¯appropriatelyâ¯sized engineâ¯for performanceâ¯set out inâ¯DEFRA.â¯
The tender is for boats, outboard motors and trailers to be supplied as a complete package and 5 years of support and provision of spares.
