The Wantage Market Place Improvement Scheme is a major town centre improvement project led by Oxfordshire County Council. It aims to be a committed investment aimed at transforming a vehicle-dominated environment into a vibrant, accessible, and people-focused public space.
The scheme is supported by approved funding, enabling feasibility design, community co-production, traffic modelling, and completion of preliminary design. The scheme aims to reduce traffic dominance, improve safety and accessibility, enhance air quality, and boost the local economy through better use of public realm.
Aligned with the Local Transport and Connectivity Plan (LTCP), Vision Zero, and Wantage and Grove LCWIP, the project seeks to:
