The Scottish Community Development Network (SCDN) is a member-led organisation, for community workers and community development workers, paid or unpaid, full or part time, from the community, voluntary or public sectors, who support the principles and practice of community development. SCDN is open to anyone with an interest in community development in Scotland. SCDN believes that the key purpose of community development work is to collectively bring about social change and justice, by working with communities to: Identify their needs, opportunities, rights and responsibilities Plan, organise and take action Evaluate the effectiveness and impact of the action We will do all of this in ways which continually challenge oppression and tackle inequalities, staying true to our beliefs that community development should be rooted in values and principles.
