To maintain the pristine condition of the rivers of the far north east of Scotland for the preservation of the indigenous aquatic species therein. The bedrock of the Trust's work is scientific research, incl: habitat & electrofishing surveys to assess/monitor abundance. monitoring water quality (eg. stream chemistry, temperature, flow) & health of the aquatic insects within. monitoring the impact of external features (eg. climate change, installation and operation of terrestrial and marine infrastructure, particularly for renewable energy) in the vicinity of rivers and with potential to interfere with migratory salmon returning to native rivers). We work closely with local environmental organisations such as the Flow Country Partnership, fishery boards & academia, maintaining an extensive database of knowledge to support the region on aquatic issues, and providing advice / proposing solutions where feasible to maintain the integrity of our watercourses.
