Our purpose is to give young people the best start in life through nautical training in the traditions of the Royal Navy. Our 'cadet experience' is built upon delivery skills such as teamwork, leadership, respect and self discipline. Our cadet age ranges from 14 to 18, both male and female. The cadets currently parade one evening a week, previously this was two evenings, however, we are in the midst of a major project to renovate and reconfigure our facilities which has reduced our accommodation capacity. We provide shore based and waterborne activities as well as the opportunity to obtain academic and vocational qualifications. The past year saw a dozen of our cadets participate in offshore voyages in the MSSC's fleet of sail and power vessels. Both the Chair and the Commanding Officer were officers in the RN and several of our volunteers are also ex-servicemen and women.
